Who and What is HCI?

Helps Community Initiatives, Inc. (HCI) is a Community Development Corporation, and a 501C3, faith-based non-profit organization. HCI is my vision and was established in February 2016. It is the community outreach arm of Truth Revealed Intl Ministries. Bishop Merton L. Clark is the President/CEO and Terri L. Smith serves as the Executive Director.

To provide services and opportunities that will enhance the lives of families and individuals through support and affirmation, while promoting life changes that will augment progress toward productivity and achievements.

What services does HCI currently provide?

Since January 2021, HCI has hosted the Cold Night Shelter for the homeless in Palm Bay and the south end of Brevard County. We currently facilitate an emergency/temporary shelter for the homeless called The Mercy House.  We can assist up to 7 single individuals at a time on their journey from homelessness to permanent housing. We are currently intaking only male clients at this location. We received funding from the City of Palm Bay and the Brevard Homeless Coalition in support of our homeless outreach programs including the Cold Night Shelter.

We supported the Care Learning Center Tutoring and STEM programs as well as other Economic Development Programs to assist small business development, employment, and career development.

What are the qualifications for service?

Your home could be an apartment, house, or mobile home.

These three statements also need to be true:

  1. At least one member of your household has:
    • Qualified for unemployment or should qualify.
    • Lost income
    • Owed large expenses, OR
    • Had other financial hardships
  2. At least one member of your household is experiencing housing instability, which means they are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
  1. Your household verifiable income is at or below a certain amount. Limits below are for 2022.
